What a Counselor Does

​

  • Strives to promote a positive and safe school climate for ALL students.

  • Assists students in achieving academic, personal, social/emotional and career success.

  • Meets individually with students to discuss challenges they might be experiencing.

  • Facilitates small group sessions in a variety of themes such as: study/organization skills, friendship/social skills, self-esteem building, anger management, stress management & healthy living, Diversity/Tolerance of others, etc.

  • Conducts classroom guidance lessons that are evidenced based and that align with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Standards.

  • Collaborates with parents, teachers, administration, support staff and community stakeholders to ensure student success

  • Provides a confidential, safe and non-judgmental environment where student feel open to share.
